If you’ve listened to the Plant School Podcast for any amount of time, you’ve probably heard me suggest certain tools/products for your houseplants but maybe didn’t know where to find them. Well not anymore!
I’ve finally gotten around to making a semi-comprehensive list of tools I personally use and consistently recommend for houseplant owners wanting to provide the best of the best for their plants. I don’t list everything under the sun, just the things that actually make a difference in real homes.
Let’s dive in!
(Some links on this page may be affiliate links. I only recommend tools I genuinely trust and talk about on the podcast.)

Favorite Plant Stores
I’ve shopped a fair amount for plants online and here are my favorite stores that always seem to deliver great plants in great shape!
What I recommend:
- etsy.com – For all of you that love a deal, etsy is a bit like the wild west but you can find some amazing steals!
- thesill.com– This one is more highly curated and pricey but I love using them when I don’t feel like shopping for a pot.
- 1800Flowers.com – I know, this is not the website you think of when you think of houseplants, but they’re great about their quality and delivery!
Miscellaneous
Some of the things I’m often mentioning in my podcast but they don’t really have a category…
| Mill Food Recycler | The Complete Language of Flowers by S. Theresa Dietz | Plant Mat |
This recycler turns all my food scraps into chicken food additive and soil amendment for my garden. I love this thing. |
This is the book I’m referencing when looking up the symbolism of plants in my episodes. It’s so fun and I use it constantly to send my loved ones messages! |
These mats make repotting messes a breeze! They’re packable and roll right up when you’re done. |
