If you have someone in your life who is a plant enthusiast, or perhaps you’re one yourself, this guide is here to help you see all the great gifts out there that can aid you, or a friend, in their indoor plant hobby. There are SO many tools and products out there for the indoor plant owner.  It can be overwhelming to sort through all of the products out there and determine what is best and what is necessary to have.  I’ve gone through and scoured these products to give you the best recommendations for what you’re going to need.  If you’re interested in an item, just click on the photo of that item.  I do receive a small commission from Amazon at no extra cost to you if you purchase using one of the links below.

#1: Watering Cans

If you don’t have time to gather all your indoor plants into your sink or into your shower or maybe you’re tired of using a random cup in your cupboard, a watering can is essential and will save you time.  It’s probably the most basic and needed tool to have on hand with indoor plants. Watering cans come in all sorts of shapes and sizes but here are my favorites!  They all have smaller spouts that will help you keep the water flow in control when pouring and where you need the water to be going.

I’ve included a variety of options, all of which have good ratings and are sure to get the job done correctly!  Some of these are so cute, they can dual up as a decoration piece to show off!

#3: Pruning Shears

Trimming off yellow leaves or giving your plant a little pruning is a normal part of indoor plant care and a nice set of sharp pruning shears are a great addition for any houseplant owner.  These shears have good reviews are certain to help you make nice clean cuts every time.

#3: Aeration Tool

Aerating your houseplants soil can help the soil not be compacted and also helps with water being able to reach all part of the plants roots.  And yes, they are in all actuality, chopsticks.  Reusable ones, of course.  So if you love sushi and aerating your plants, this is a win-win.

#6: Plant Hangers & Pots

Hangers are not only a great way from keeping your plants from curious pets and children, they also look amazing from those macrame hangers.  If you’re needing some more traditional pots to step up your game and highlight your plant’s beautiful foliage, I’ve got you.  And don’t worry, all of these pots have drainage holes, because we aren’t about that no drainage hole life.

#10: Fertilizer

Fertilizer is such a handy item to have on hand because you use it all the time for your houseplants.  I use two general fertilizers for most of my houseplants, linked below.

If you’re not sure what kind of fertilizer you might need, you can check out all of my fertilzing videos here, or read about fertilizing your plant here.

In general, the Jack’s All Purpose fertilizer should be the perfect gift to fertilize your indoor plants.

#11: Baster

Perhaps you’ve never heard of a baster being used for your indoor plants, but I promise you, it’s going to be a game changer!  When you water your plant and water starts to seep out bottom into a dish, it often overflows.  To keep this from happening, you grab your baster, suck up the water and shoot it back into your watering can to water your other plants.  This has saved me from getting everything wet and frantically running to a nearby sink with my dripping plant!

#12: Small Shovel Set

A small hand shovel may seem more like a gardener’s tool, but a small hand shovel can assist with repotting, splitting plants, and getting soil right where it needs to go and not all over your floor!

#13: Soil

This one seems like a no-brainer but it can be such a great gift since soil runs out so fast.  There are different types of soil that benefit certain plants.  Most tropical houseplants will do great in your general potting soil.  If you or your friend is into orchids, the orchid soil mix is the perfect way to go and orchid soil will favor the orchid with the right aeration needs it has.  If you have succulents or cactus, I recommend getting the cactus soil mix since it has great drainage that mimics it’s natural environment and keeps it from being overwatered.

#15: Light Meter

This little tool is excellent in helping you raise healthy and happy plants.  Light can be greatly misunderstood when it comes to knowing how much your plant needs, but this light meter sheds light upon the subject.  Pun intended.  It will show how many foot candles are in certain areas and where the perfectly lit areas are for your houseplants.

#16: pH Meter

This is another fun tool to be using for your indoor plants soil.  It can tell you if your soil is acidic, neutral, or basic.  Some plants prefer certain pH levels for optimum growth and health so this tool can help you see where your houseplant’s soil is at and how it needs to change.

#17: Wire and Bamboo posts

Wire and bamboo posts are excellent tools for shaping houseplants.  For example, if your fiddle leaf fig is starting to tip and needs some help growing upright, bamboo and wire can do the trick.  The bamboo posts are ideal since they are strong and rigid and will not be affected when you water your houseplant.

#18: Dusting Cloths

This is another simple but much needed tool for any houseplant owner.  Houseplants often gather dust and dirt on their leaves and they need their leaves nice and clean to reach their full potential of photosynthesizing capabilities.  These microfiber cloths are neither too soft nor too rough to use on your indoor plants and keep them clean.
